ABSTRACT

The concentrations of nutrients in the leaves allow a better understanding of the nutritional status of oil palm plants, making it a tool for diagnosing the origins of nutritional problems and assisting in fertilizer recommendations. In this sense, the objective of the current research was to evaluate the leaf concentrations of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S in the oil palm under fertilization with phosphate, potassium and magnesium in edaphoclimatic conditions of Eastern Amazon. The experiment was conducted at the AGROPALMA® Company in the municipality of Tailândia, state of Pará, Brazil. The experimental design used was randomized blocks in a factorial scheme 4 x 2 x 3 x 2, with four levels of phosphorus, two sources of phosphorus (natural phosphate and triple superphosphate), three levels of potassium and two levels of magnesium. Phosphorus fertilization increased the leaf concentrations of N, P, Ca and Mg, providing higher levels when triple superphosphate was applied. However, in adult oil palm plants (12 years old), there was different on leaf concentrations of N, P, K and S between phosphorus sources aphid. Potassium and magnesium fertilization only increased the leaf concentrations of K and Mg, respectively. Fertilization with P, K and Mg promotes adequate leaf concentrations of K, Ca, Mg e S in oil palm plants grown in the Eastern Amazon.

ABSTRACT

The knowledge of micronutrients for Jute (Corchorus capsularis L.) plants might be a valuable tool to the subsidize taking of decisions to the management of such species. The objective of this study was to describe the symptoms of micronutrient deficiencies in jute plants and to analyze micronutrient contents in leaves, stems, and roots. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, with six treatments and four replications in a randomized block design. The treatments were, as follows: Complete solution (C) and solution with the omission of the following nutrients: B, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn. Except for Cu deficiency, the morphological alterations were easily characterized for all nutrients evaluated, in which Fe and Zn were the first and the last to cause symptoms in plants, respectively. In general, the nutrients that were most limiting to the growth of Jute plant and for dry mass were Fe and B. The omission of B, Mn and Fe limited root growth while the Zn and Cu deficiencies limited the growth of the aerial part. The nutrient contents were ordered as it follows: Fe> Mn> Zn> B> Cu in the leaves, Fe> Mn> B> Zn> Cu in the stem and Fe> Zn> Mn> B> Cu in the roots. For seedings of Jute, the deficiency of Fe and B are the most limiting and the suitable nutritional contents for those seedlings are 11.37; 8.99; 346.14; 248.88 and 77,28 mg.kg-1 for B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn in the leaves, respectively.

ABSTRACT

The adoption of cover crops in commercial plantations has been shown to be an alternative to promote greater soil protection, enhancement in its structure and aggregation, optimization of accumulation and nutrient cycling to obtain greater production of biomass and higher nitrogen fixation. To determine the accumulation of micronutrients of Pueraria phaseoloides L., according to age, established as a soil cover in industrial oil palm crops, an experiment was carried out at Companhia Agroindustrial (CRAI) in the municipality of Tailândia, State of Pará, in an Oxisol. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replicates. The results allow to conclude that the accumulation of nutrients, except for Mn and Cu in the live Pueraria phaseoloides L. plant cover reduced over the years and those of B, Mn, Zn, and Cu were greater in the dead Pueraria phaseoloides L. plant cover and for Cl it was in the live Pueraria phaseoloides L. plant cover. The decreasing order of total micronutrient extraction was the following: Cl> Mn> B> Zn> Cu.
